75th Year, Still One Gear Send-Off

Event Date: July 19, 2014
Event Time: 9:00 am - 10:30 am

In 1939, James S. White II made an historic ride from Rock Hill to the 1939 World\\\'s Fair in Flushing, New York. A local businessman, White was very active in the Rock Hill Chamber of Commerce, which sponsored the good will ambassador trip through ten states - over 800 miles - promoting Rock Hill is a Good Town.

In the same spirit, HRH will recreate this historic ride, with the help of White\\\\\\\'s great-grandson, James S. \\\"Jay\\\" White V. White will ride a replica of his great-grandfather\\\'s bike \\\"Old Betsy\\\" over the course of two weeks. He plans to arrive in New York on July 29.

Join us at the Giordana Velodrome at the Rock Hill Outdoor Center as we celebrate the 75th anniversary of this ride and ride along with Jay! Light breakfast fare, juice and coffee will be served, followed by brief remarks before Jay embarks on his ten-day ride at 10 a.m.

If you\'re interested in riding with Jay for part of his trip, please contact Annemarie Beebe at annemarie.beebe@historicrockhill.com.
