Celebrating Our Success
Historic Rock Hill works with local governments, public corporations and private citizens to secure funds for restoration and preservation. Today, as a result of our efforts, many endangered properties have been returned to their original state. In instances where that was not possible, every effort is given to create a look that remains true to the feel of the period and appropriate for the use of the space. One of the finest and most important examples of historic preservation and restoration in Rock Hill and York County is The White Home. About Us
Historic Rock Hill, a 501c3 non-profit organization, was formed as a Mid-Town Preservation Association in 1986. Our mission is to preserve and protect the historic resources of Rock Hill, South Carolina, and to enhance the livability of its historic areas. Membership is open to anyone interested in historic preservation and stewardship of Rock Hill’s historic resources.
Historic Rock Hill’s administrative offices are located in The White Home, located in the heart of the East Town Neighborhood District in Rock Hill. Historic Rock Hill is governed by a thirteen-member Board of Directors, which meets monthly in the upstairs conference room at The White Home. Meetings are open to the public, and begin at 5:30 PM.
Preserving Rock Hill’s History
In addition to saving important structures, Historic Rock Hill also serves to:
- provide education to the public through exhibitions, publications, programs and activities, and
- preserve and protect local photographs, journals and material culture.
Historic Rock Hill’s new website, buildingrockhill.com, features a new collection of photos and information on hundreds of historic properties in the Rock Hill area, whether still standing or demolished.
